How to wear Richmond Weightlifting Wrist Wraps
Richmond Weightlifting Leather Wrist Wraps are designed to provide maximal wrist support during weightlifting exercises while offering a durable and stylish option. Here's how to wear them correctly and care for them correctly:
1. Prepare Your Wraps:
Before you put on your Richmond Weightlifting Wrist Wraps feed the adjustment Straps through the slits that are punched near the center of the wrist wrap.
NOTE: Do not feed the straps through the buckles right away!
2. Position the Wraps:
After you have fed the adjustment straps through the slits in the wrap, place the wrap over the wrist, so that the “Richmond” logo is located on the pinky-side of the wrist. Make sure the wrist wrap is placed high enough on the wrist, so that the rounded top of the wrap crosses the wrist joint.
3. Get your Wraps Tight:
Once your wraps are placed where you want them on the wrist, pull the adjustment straps away from you (towards the buckles), until the wrap fully tightens around your wrist. We then recommend holding your wraps against your body to ensure that they stay tight until you are able to get them buckled.
4. Buckling Your Wraps
Take the long strap and begin wrapping it around your wrist and wrist wrap, then feed one strap through the buckles on-at-a-time. Use your hand to pull the adjustment strap tight and then use index finger or thumb to punch the prong through the desired hole. Then repeat on the other other adjustment strap.
5. Adjust Tension:
If you feel that your wrist wrap is too tight or too lose, once buckled, you can adjust the tension by changing the holes that you put the prong through. You can do this on one adjustment strap or both, depending on desired tension and support.
6. Tuck Excess Strap Material:
Now, feed the excess strap through the loops located near the buckle of the wrist wrap. If you feel their is too much excess strap still hanging, you can tuck the excess material underneath the straps on the top of the wrist wraps.
7. Check Range of Motion:
After both wrist wraps are in place, move your wrists around to ensure that you still have a comfortable range of motion. Adjust the tension if needed.
8. Perform Your Lifts:
With the leather wrist wraps securely in place and adjusted to your preference, you can proceed with your weightlifting exercises. The wraps should provide added stability and support to your wrists during heavy lifts without too much discomfort.
9. Break-In Period:
Please note that leather wrist wraps require a break-in period that can last between 1 to 2 weeks and can be expedited by massaging and creasing the wrist wraps with your hands outside of your workouts. Once fully broken in, you should be able to wear the wraps throughout your entire training session. They should be comfortable while still providing maximal support.
10. Care and Maintenence:
The most important part of caring for your wrist wraps is storing them in a cool dry environment. After use, the wrist wraps will hold moisture from sweat and should not be stored inside of a gym bag. We recommend buckling them to a strap on the outside of your gym bag, instead. You can apply a general leather oil to your wrist wraps to keep them extra pliable, but this is not necessary and could lead to a potential change in color of your wrist wraps. Therefor we recommend you proceed with extreme caution when deciding to apply oil to your wraps. Leather wrist wraps, like other wrist wraps, should be used as a tool to provide wrist support during heavy lifts or when you have wrist discomfort. They are not meant to be worn all the time. Be sure to also work on wrist mobility and strength to avoid over-reliance on wraps. If you're uncertain about how to use them correctly or have any concerns about wrist issues, consult a fitness professional or physical therapist for guidance.
